Hempt Silver Spring (HSS)
Alpha provided civil engineering and site design services for HSS Investors on the Hempt Farms project in Silver Spring Township, Cumberland County. Our team completed the master plan for the 450-acre site along the Carlisle Pike, which includes 46 acres of commercial development, 2 million square feet of industrial space by the Rockefeller Group, 250 townhomes, and 432 apartments.
More than 130 acres, including the Hempt family homestead, have been transferred to the Township for future municipal use and long-term historical and environmental preservation.
Transportation improvements were a key component of the project. A new signalized intersection has already been constructed to improve access to the property and the Cumberland Valley School District campus, with a roundabout proposed for Hempt Road and additional upgrades planned—such as an underground pedestrian tunnel connecting the school district campus with the development.
Throughout the process, the project has benefited from strong collaboration among the development team, Cumberland Valley School District, Silver Spring Township, Cumberland County, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, helping ensure that the work reflects shared community goals.
